Full Day Workshops

Nature seen through a macro lens can be quite magical. Join me for a hands-on day of discovery where you’ll learn the secrets of how I capture the hidden little gems in our everyday life.

Not only for beginners, this practical workshop is suited to anyone wanting to learn how I get my shots. We will cover all the basics of macro photography including settings, subject location, depth of field and lots of tips and tricks along the way.

This work shop has both theory and practical components, and we will spend plenty of time practicing both indoors and out.

Workshops have small class sizes (limited to five people) and course notes are included!

A very enjoyable day out. Jo was clearly about sharing the aspect of photography she enjoys, which is a nice way to teach. She was prepared with material for those new to their camera, without short changing those with more experience. I’d recommend her macro course to photographers of all levels.

Steve Baldwin

What a fantastic insight into the world of small creatures, under the expert instruction of Jo Ottey. Her images are perfection on a miniature scale, and her methods are easy to follow, including notes on how do do it.
Jo effortlessly floats between students during the practical component, pointing out small bugs at 100 paces like a modern day entimologist with suoer-human binocular vision. Bonus- she gives tips left right and centre on how to find them.
Thank you Jo, what a buzzy course. This is a must-do workshop

Karl Bevin

Wow, Jo knows her stuff with Macro photography. She ran a brilliant course. Heaps of hand outs. She’s like a little energiser bunny, making sure we all had equal time with her. Her knowledge with the bugs is awesome. Able to spot them with ease. If you get the opportunity to do one of her courses, jump in boots and all. Thanks Jo

Sheree Anderton

Jo’s macro photography course is well structured and covers all areas of the topic. The class size is small allowing personal assistance for each student. Time is spend teaching the topic, hands-on field trip and time spend in studio. I can recommend this course to anyone
